Electronic Instrumentation is about the design, realisation and use of electronic systems for the measurement of electrical and non-electrical quantities. Strongly related fields are measurement science and data acquisition.
Each of these disciplines has a specific function in solving a measurement problem. The activity that is the basis of electronic instrumentation is measuring.
Electronic instrumentation provides the knowledge that is needed to select the commercially available instruments if available with sufficient performance (instrument specifications) to do the job.
